Directed by visionary storyteller Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) and penned by Emmy-winning screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve), Willy Wonka 2 picks up ten years after Wonka first handed the factory keys to young Charlie Bucket. But the golden legacy has dimmed. Mysterious power outages, erratic candy behavior, and whispers of sabotage point to a hidden vault below the factory—where Wonka’s most dangerous experiments were locked away… until now.
When an unexpected explosion plunges Charlie (played by Stranger Things breakout Finn Wolfhard) into a candy-fueled mystery, he must reunite with a reclusive Wonka, now a fugitive in his own creation, to uncover the truth. Together, with the help of a fearless candy engineer (Pugh), a retired Oompa Loompa general (Black), and an AI-powered sugar drone voiced by Awkwafina, they’ll journey through twisted chocolate jungles, glitching gumdrop circuits, and the forbidden “Room of Eternal Flavor.”
Wicked new villains rise, including corporate candy tycoon Selina Sour (Lewis), who seeks to weaponize Wonka’s secret ingredients for global control. In a race against time—and sugar—they must protect the spirit of imagination before it melts away forever.
The film also features performances by Ken Watanabe, Rachel Zegler, and Tony Hale, with musical contributions from Grammy® winner Billie Eilish and an original score by Oscar®-winning composer Ludwig Göransson.
